Plant your Flowers!

It is time to to start thinking about planting flowers. We love to see your flowers at Galgate Show, so start thinking about what you might enter.

Give your perennial flowers a trim to remove any remaining dead leaves or branches and then give them a feed. Not only will they provide you with lots of blooms in the garden, you should have a prize winner or two to enter.

Hardy annual seeds can still be planted, now is a good time. They need little attention beyond a drink if it gets very dry and will reward with lots of lovely colour through the summer. Plus they make fabulous entries in our show!

Don’t forget your tender bedding too. This needs to be protected from frost until the end of May but can provide another lovely summer display. A lot of exhibitors use tender plants, like geraniums, petunias and begonias to compete in our container and hanging basket classes. Why not give it a try?

Time to Plant your Vegetables!

We love all your produce entries at Galgate Show and now is an ideal time to start planting those prize winners!

The show is two weeks earlier this year so we are hoping for a bumper crop of pea exhibits, along with wonderful potatoes and summer cabbages. There are loads of vegetable classes so why not try your hand? I will be putting up some more information on how to show in the next few weeks.

In the meantime though, start getting your seeds and young plants growing!
